RMAN-03002: failure of configure command at date and time

RMAN-20001: target database not found in recovery catalog

This RMAN error occurred in Oracle 10g database after connecting to target database in non catalog mode. The error is occurring on all commands including  “show all”  configuration check.

So I check the database health and it looked normal. Connected with catalog database, found connection is working fine but error is repeating when “list backup” was issued.

A corrupted memory can cause the above errors, so by flushing the shared pool of the instance where backup is configured, you can solve the case.   This is only a short term fix and you may have to run the following fix again unless the database is upgraded to Oracle 11gR2

Login as user SYS

sqlplus / as sysdba

SQL> ALTER SYSTEM FLUSH SHARED_POOL  ;

SQL> exit ;

$>  rman

RMAN>  connect target /;

RMAN> show all ;

RMAN shows configuration parameters.
