OOAC implemented the project for an Electronics Component Manufacturer. The objective was to migrate 50 users and their mails from Mdaemon to Linux system. The implementation was based on Ubuntu 8.04 and hardened with Bastille Linux. The SMTP and IMAP components chosen were Postfix and Cyrus. Email security was supervised by Amavis, Spamassassin, Razor, clamav, Pyzor, Selected RBL and hardening the postfix instance. Shorewall and portsentry were installed for security and active response. Squirrelmail with Out of office and auto reply was configured as the Mail User Interface.

Webmin was configured as the managed interface and it simplifies the export and import users between Mdaemon and the Linux System. Webmin being compatible with virtually any web browser permits various administrative tasks using a cleanly designed and user friendly interface. The mails were synchronised using IMAP sync this impacts the performance and disk space usage.
